In this article, we will share best practices on how you can propose and upload audio courses to Insight Timer and share your wisdom and teachings with our community.
What are Audio Courses?
Audio courses are our premium offering that sits behind a paywall. They are available to our subscribers, or to students who have chosen to buy them individually via our website.
They can be accessed both via our app, as well as our website.
Audio courses consist of several coherent audio lessons and allow students to dive deeper into a topic of interest. Usually, they have between 10 and 30 lessons of 10 to 15 min each, however, this can be flexible depending on your topic. Each lesson is uploaded in MP3 format and is accompanied by a title and a description. A short question and four possible answers that encourage students to reflect on the learned content are also shared at the end of each lesson. See an example below.
Each audio course also comes with its own virtual classroom that allows students to discuss and reflect on the course topic and connect with the teacher and other participants. As a teacher, you might want to check this classroom regularly, as it is a great way to engage with your students and provide answers to any questions or concerns.

Where are Audio Courses located on the app?
Audio courses sit in the Learn tab, which you can find at the bottom of the app next to your home tab.
How To Propose and Upload an Audio Course
Before proposing and uploading an audio course on Insight Timer, we ask that you carefully consider our community guidelines. You can fill out this proposal form with the outline and all the important information on what you are planning to teach.
Once we receive your proposal, our team will review it and share any feedback with you. This usually takes up to 2 working days.
If your proposal is approved, our team will share a link with you so that you can start uploading your course content. Please ensure that your audio files are of studio quality and have no background noises. Once we receive your material, we aim to publish your course within 2 working days and we will let you know once it has gone live.

Revenue
We allocate 70% of teacher revenue to audio courses and 30% to our free library, which means audio courses are a great way for you to generate meaningful income.
We pay our teachers by play count and also by engagement, meaning the more students listen to your audio course and engage with your content (via the course’s classroom), the better. Your monthly income will vary depending on the generated subscription revenue, the number of tracks published, and the number of students who listen and engage with your content. In summary, our Audio Courses:
- Are available to MemberPlus subscribers via the app or by individual sales via the web
- Are audio only
- Have a virtual classroom for discussion
- Allow teachers to get paid a percentage of the subscription revenue and from individual sales
