Insight Timer Content Overview

There are a lot of different features and types of content teachers can share on Insight Timer and we know it can get overwhelming sometimes.

That is why we have created an overview of all the different kinds of content you as a teacher can create and share on Insight Timer.

Before getting started, we encourage you to check our Community Guidelines to ensure your content aligns with the vision we have for our community.

Now, let us talk you through all the different content you can make available for your students via our platform.

Single Tracks: Guided Meditations, Music, Poems, Talks

Insight Timer has the biggest library of free meditation content in the world. This is all thanks to our beautiful teachers who regularly upload guided meditations, music, poems or talks.

These single tracks are accessible for everyone who has downloaded our free app. The good news is, you as a teacher can still generate an income by uploading free tracks: 30% of the money we attribute to our teacher community is allocated to the free library – the other 70% is allocated to courses, our premium product that we will speak about later. If students resonate with your content they also have the option to donate to you directly.

You are able to upload a single track via the Audio tab on your Teacher Dashboard. Our team then listens and approves your track which usually takes one to 3 days. Here is a list of best practices for you to keep in mind.

Curated Playlists

Curating your own playlists on Insight Timer is highly valuable for you as a teacher. Because we pay our teachers by play count, playlists are a great way for you to encourage students to listen to a variety of your content more often, which ultimately helps you increase your income.

Playlists can include any single track that is available in the library and you can easily create them by clicking into the About section on your app profile and finding the Playlists tab. Here you can simply find the + symbol that will allow you to create your first Playlist. Don’t forget to share it on your social media channels once it’s done!

Teacher Blog

We are lucky that we have so many amazing teachers and experts in our community and that is why all our teachers have the option to contribute to our blog. If you have a topic that you are passionate about and that aligns with Insight Timer’s mission, then please feel free to reach out with your idea to

Live Events

Live Events are a wonderful way for you to better connect with your community. They are a great way to share with students directly when you have published a new track or course or have created your own Group on Insight Timer.

We recommend that teachers host Live Events regularly and consistently to build out their audience and engage their students. This can also be a good opportunity for you to receive donations from students who feel inspired by your content.

To schedule a Live Event, simply head to the Live tab on your Teacher Dashboard. Here you can fill out the title, time and a little description for your Event. Our team will then review and approve your event within several hours. If you need more information on this, feel free to click through to our FAQ section here.

Live Events can be schedule up to 48hrs in advance, but we recommend you plan a little ahead so that you have time to share the news with your community and network.

Courses are our premium product which sit behind a paywall and are only accessible to our MemberPlus subscribers. Students also have the option to purchase individual Courses for USD $20 via the web.

So what exactly are courses, you ask? Courses consist of several (minimum 5) consecutive days of audio lessons. We recommend lessons to be between 15 and 20 minutes long, but we have also seen successful courses with longer sessions. This is often very dependent on the topic and you as the expert in your field will likely have a good feeling for how long a session should be.

Because Courses are our premium product we expect the audio lessons to be of premium quality also. This means we will not accept files that have loud background noises etc. Please ensure you only send us audio files that have studio quality.

Every Course also has its own virtual classroom that students can use to ask questions or share their experience.

Offering a Course is a great way for teachers to grow their income. We allocate 70% of the money we share with teachers to our Course product and you can make additional income by engaging with your students and answering their questions in your classroom.

If you would like to submit a course proposal, please use this form and our team will be in touch to discuss a timeline for publishing with you. For more information on this product, click here.

Workshops & Mentoring Sessions

We recently launched a virtual marketplace that allows teachers to sell tickets to virtual workshops or mentoring sessions and significantly grow their income.

As this is a new product, we are still learning and iterating this feature, so currently we can only work with a small group of teachers on workshops and mentoring.

If you would like to be considered for this, then please feel free to send your proposal via this link.

We hope this overview helps you decide where to start. We strongly recommend you align all your content to build out a great cohesive product offering. If you have a specific topic or niche that you are passionate about, why not specialise in it and ensure that you become THE expert on the topic within our community?

As always, if you have any questions or thoughts, please feel free to email us at
