Once upon a time I got a chip in my windshield that spread into a giant crack.
It started behind the rear view mirror, went all the way to the bottom, and then ran along both sides of the bottom for several inches.
It sounds bad, but you have to be paying attention to notice it, and it’s positioned such that it would still pass inspection.
Talk about a gift from Universe! A giant crack that doesn’t affect visibility or need to be handled immediately? I accept, Universe!
So I figured I’d wait for another chip before I replaced it.
Normally, rock chips are not my joy.
But now I’m sort of halfway welcoming one so I can get a new windshield once and for all.
Guess how long it’s been?
Like three boyfriends ago. Ok, that might not mean anything to you, but it’s been years.
It’s been so long they changed the law here and don’t even require vehicle safety inspections any more.
I’ve been driving around with this giant crack down the middle of my windshield waiting for a new rock chip to give it the final blow to justify replacement.
(You might be thinking “receiving skills” here, that I shouldn’t have to wait until it’s completely ruined to have what I want, and you wouldn’t be wrong.)
But I don’t really want to spend time on this thing, so I’m not doing it until I have to.
Which means I’ve been welcoming the next rock chip into my world.
And I can’t get a rock chip to save my life.
Who ever heard of this?! I must be in contention for the Guinness World Record on longest time with no rock chips.
I mean, I’ve got friends getting them left and right. My ex wasn’t on the road more than a month before he got one in his brand spanking new car. Another friend won’t even drive on the freeway any more because of how often his windshield gets hit!
But conscious creators understand what’s going on here. It makes perfect sense from a vibrational perspective …
It’s because I don’t have any resistance to the unwanted thing any more.
I mean, I don’t really want a rock chip. I just am not not-wanting one any more.
The resistance to the unwanted thing is gone, so the unwanted thing has no pulling power in my life.
This is why LOA teachers are always telling us to release resistance to what we don’t want. Because when we’re not actively pushing against it, it doesn’t come for us.
(When we’re not the vibration of it, we can’t experience it.)
It’s only when we’re not wanting something that we call it in. (Because we’re being the vibration of what we push against.)
This applies to more than rock chips in windshields … it includes door dings, red lights, police pullovers, skin breakouts before hot dates, gray hairs, IRS audits, corrupt politicians, covid-19, you name it.
When we are willing to embrace whatever shows up, we live resistance-free and life gets magical.
Most folks in the world think they have to push against what they don’t want in order to keep it out. But it’s the exact opposite: flowing resistance draws it in.
That’s a big reason I studied Ty Bollinger’s Truth About Cancer series. Because once I stop being afraid of it, I no longer call it to me.
It’s why I try not to get up in arms about topics that used to rile me … because I know that I empower whatever I push against.
And I’ve got the windshield to prove it.
Here’s to recognizing where we’re calling in what we don’t want and engaging a routine that serves us better.
